Disturbing the teacher’s role as assessor: the case of calculated grades 2020–2021 in Ireland

For the first time in history of high stakes Leaving Certificate Established examination Ireland, teachers graded and ranked their own students due to Covid-19 restrictions. In wake process, a questionnaire focus group interviews explored how engaged with Calculated Grades 2020 (CG2020) they viewed role as assessor. The process challenged becoming personal, professional, political identity, it created space where teachers’ feelings beliefs oscillated between holding on traditional assessment approach engaging new possibilities reform.
